THE SHINY METAL HOUSE … no one says it better than architect, Harry Teague:
The house stands dramatically alone in a delicate, almost oriental Colorado sage, oak and juniper landscape. Designed by two artists …"a daring but sensitive response to the site, and the sophisticated color sense of the artist combined into an architectural composition that has been published worldwide. Inspired by mid-century aluminum caravans, it is the first and possibly the only, entirely galvanized house in the west. The current occupants … have taken over where the artists left off in spirit and in taste. (They) added spectacular gardens, an unusual tennis court, a spa and a “guest house” that appears separately in this show. Their cheerfully playful art and furniture provide a perfect complement to the simple architectural forms."
"The small cubic bungalow, originally conceived as a guest house, is a simple rectilinear shape … a “box within a box”, it compactly accommodates the program of art gallery, kitchen, dining room, bath, closet and bedroom. Though small and simple in form, it performs all the tasks of the program through clever moves and small playful touches are indications of the close, compatible relationship between the clients and the talented project architect, Brad Zeigle."
